Proceeds Benefit Folds Of Honor Foundation
Tinley Park, Ill., June 9, 2011 – Bettinardi Golf announced today “Putt for Patriots” program to benefit the Folds of Honor Foundation. Golfers can go online and pledge to play golf during the July 4th holiday weekend (July 1-4) and get family and friends to donate for every putt they take during their round. All proceeds of the “Putt for Patriots” will go directly to the Folds of Honor Foundation.
“What a perfect time of year to salute our military service men and women” said Blair Subry, national sales director. “Putt for Patriots encourages golfers and non-golfers alike to support this worthy cause. Golfers get to play their favorite course, knowing each putt they take contributes to the Folds of Honor Foundation and non-golfers can sponsor their friends and family who golf so everyone contributes! It’s a wonderful complement to Patriot Golf Day held in September that also benefits Folds of Honor Foundation.”
PGA TOUR professional Brian Gay will be among several celebrities to pledge to play July 4th weekend. Golfers who wish to Putt for Patriots can go online at www.PuttForPatriots.org and register. Once registered, they can easily contact family and friends through Facebook, Twitter and email. There are no restrictions on where to play, just a pledge to get out and play. Thousands of golf courses will be sent point-of-sale material to help promote sign-up including many that currently support Patriot Golf Day. Additionally, state golf associations, PGA sections, veteran associations are being approached and urged to support golfers to play 4th of July weekend and Putt for Patriots through their websites and e-newsletters.
“We hope this inaugural effort will lead to an annual tradition” said Subry. “We expect thousands of golfers to get involved and help raise upwards of $2 million dollars this year. Putt for Patriots is good for the game. It’s good for the Folds of Honor Foundation and it’s good for the soul. I might even smile if I three putt.”
Those who pledge to putt and achieve various donation levels have a chance to win a trip for two to the Bettinardi studios for a custom putter fitting and a round of golf with Bob Bettinardi. Bettinardi is also producing a limited edition Patriot Golf putter with a percent of the sale also being donated to the Folds of Honor Foundation.
PGA Professional Dan Rooney, an F-16 fighter pilot in the Oklahoma Air National Guard, is the founder of the Folds of Honor Foundation. He has served three tours in Iraq. The Folds of Honor Scholarship Fund provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of military service members disabled or killed in the line of duty.
