The Bing Maloney Golf Complex in Sacramento, California has started a new ladies nine-hole fun play group that kicked off its inaugural playdates on Wednesday and Thursday, May 30-31, 2018.
During its first week, the Ladies 9-Hole Fun Play Group teed off with 26 women participating at Bing Maloney! Most of the participating women were very new to the game of golf with many of them returning after having taken lessons several years ago. One of the ladies said that she took lessons nine years ago and could not find a proper group to play with where she felt comfortable. She said this format was perfect for her. Comments such as that were repeated Wednesday night and Thursday morning when the women gathered after golf to share stories and to get to know one another better in Maloney’s Grille. Thanks were given to Bing Maloney for starting this wonderful new group!
New golfers are always welcome! In the first week, one player came out with only her putter to walk the course and putt. She wanted to experience the group to see if she would be a good fit in it since she was such a new beginner. At the end of the day, she said that she would definitely return next week with her full bag of clubs.
Mentors for the ladies included Chloe Bartek from Haggin Oaks; Peggy Chan, a member of the Sacramento Golf Council; Betty Kearny captain of the Women’s Chinese Golf Club at Bing Maloney, Jane Brown, and Bing Maloney’s Women’s Golf Ambassador, Janet Vorwerck. Golf etiquette and pace of play were shared with the women along with a few golf tips and regular reminders that this group is only about having fun. Click HERE to learn more.
The team at Bing Maloney created a welcoming environment for the women starting with the check-in process and ending with the women’s experience in the restaurant. Flyers on available lessons were provided to the women along with information on Women’s Appreciation Day which was held at Bing Maloney on Tuesday, June 5, 2018.
