It’s Friday so you know what that means
the next edition of First Time Fridays is here! A new summer series brought to you by Kathryn Newton, Golf Digest and Morton Golf. We will give you the inside scoop on how to look and feel like a golfer for all you beginners out there. Golf is an intimidating sport so we want to make it easier for you to feel comfortable from the get-go. This week’s tip: How to Act Like a Golfer – Part 1

A big no-no, don’t use your cell phone! It slows down play and affects the players behind you. Be considerate of other players in your group and at the course. It’s a good idea to keep your phone on silent or vibrate as well when playing so if the ringer goes off, other players aren’t distracted or annoyed.

Another thing to consider: don’t talk when another golfer is hitting their ball. Golf is a highly concentrated sport and it polite to be courteous of other players during their turn. Keep the fun going and the conversations flowing while you walk or drive to the next shot, during play – not so much.

Kathryn warns you to use your “indoor voice”. Sure, golf can be very exciting when you hit a great shot or make that 20-foot putt so enjoying those moments are expected. Celebrations are welcomed, but no one wants to hear you curse or scream after every shot. Enjoy the good shots and brush off the bad. Your group will thank you for it.
