A new range net protects customers and employees along the side of the Haggin Oaks driving range
It’s nothing but net along the Haggin Oaks driving range! Haggin Oaks recently finished construction on a 120′ tall, 925′ long net alongside the side of the driving range. The purpose of this course improvement project was to provide extra safety for customers and employees using the side road.
Construction began in September with the installation of the support pillars. These support pillars were 50 feet tall and buried 25 feet underground to improve stability. These pillars would become the supports for the larger pillars that would be stacked on top of them.
After the first installation was finished and tested for stability, construction crews returned to put up the second pillars. The second pillars were made up of 2 sections, up to nearly 100′ tall in total. They were lifted and slid into the previously installed support pillars, locking them in place.
The final step of the process was to hang up the net. You might think this would be the easiest part, but it was actually one of the trickiest. Each section of the net had to be measured individually to the specific distance between pillars. Over the course of a week in October, the crew used a cherry picker to hang up each section. One miscalculation could ruin the entire net but they measured twice and cut once, installing them all without any issue.
Now the range net stands complete, as an eye-catching new addition as you drive past on the freeway. Customers and employees can access the side road with having to worry about wayward shots from the range. This is just another of the many course improvement projects Haggin Oaks is working on to make the course better for everyone!
See you out on the range!
