Heather LeMaster of Sacramento, California and staff member at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex is the proud winner of the Ladies Division of the RE/MAX Long Drive Championship held in Mesquite, Nev., Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013. LeMaster won the division with a drive of 306 yards, taking down two-time defending champion Sandra Carlborg in the finals.
Heather has deep ties with Haggin Oaks, growing up through the various junior golf programs and junior camps. She now teaches various clinics for the facility- specializing in hitting the ball farther.
Heather had this to say about her victory, “I prepared all year for the two and a half minutes of fame by practicing daily. I envisioned myself standing on the tee box with five other World Long Drive Champions so it wouldn’t shock me when I actually did it. I physically trained, I practiced hard, I worked with a Long Drive swing coach and for the first time in my life I trained with a mental coach. WinQuest Sports settled me down, taught me to visualize and commit to the new me that I discovered who is positive, confident and competitive. I have the power in my legs and a fantastic swing courtesy of a handful of terrific PGA professional coaches and thousands of lessons. I walked to the tee box this year knowing that no one could beat me. My goal was not to win, but to be composed and confident which in turn helped me accomplish the ultimate win. I was so focused that I didn’t allow myself to get full of nerves and anxiety. The stars aligned. The emotions came after the win. I grabbed that trophy up over my head and looked up at the crowd. People from all over the world were cheering for me. Men, women and kids were all cheering because I won. Heaven knows I was speechless, but I just thanked as many people and companies as I could, and I told them I would see them next year. Next year I hope to be even better.”
