How Often Should You Change Your Grips? An Interview with Winn Grips

Winn Grips came to the Haggin Oaks Golf Expo this past April and Frank LaRosa from Golf to Go on ESPN 1320 was there to find out the latest and greatest from Winn Grips.

New for 2012, Winn Grips introduced their Dri-Tac series. Jeff Shepherd with Winn Grips explains that it is available in two models – the regular Dri-Tac and the Dri-Tac Wrap Lite. The Dri-Tac Series is Winn’s tackiest grip ever and features the best material Winn has come up with to-date. It is extremely shock absorbing and does great in all weather conditions. The Dri-Tac Wrap Lite grip features a tacky, all-weather grip with a contoured spiral wrap design for a glove-like fit.

Butch Harmon and Sacramento-native Natalie Gulbis represent the line and have been great ambassadors for Winn.

How often should you change your grips?
Winn Grips recommends at least once a season. However, there are additional factors that should be considered, including how often you play and your grip pressure. Those factors can contribute to wearing out your grips a bit faster. If you play 3-4 times a week or if you grip your clubs firmly, then you should change your grips out twice a year.

If you aren’t changing your grips regularly, then you are probably gripping your clubs too hard. This creates tension in your shoulders, your back, your arms and ultimately it affects your golf swing. A nice, soft, comfortable grip will release that tension and allow you to relax through your swing.
