How to Play #14 on the MacKenzie Course at Haggin Oaks

This classic hole is a tricky par 3 that needs to be tackled with precision.

Some of the hardest holes in golf are unassuming par 3s and #14 on the MacKenzie Course is no exception. Luckily, Haggin Oaks PGA Director of Golf Mike Woods recently shared his strategy when playing #14 on YouTube.

As with any par 3, success starts with a good shot from the tee. If you aren’t hitting your ball right onto the green, you want to land it just short of the green. If you hit it to the left, your ball will roll down to the cart path. If you hit it to the right, your ball might end up in the creek. Land your ball just short of the green will put you in the best place for success.

Once you are short of the green, you’re in the home stretch. As with the tee shot, you want to avoid hitting your ball too hard and having it roll off into one of the undesirable positions. In his video, Mike suggests using a putter, a 7 iron, or a 5 wood. Mike likes to use a 5 wood to glide his ball across the fringe and roll onto the green but you can use whichever you are most comfortable with.

If you follow Mike’s advice, you should set yourself up for an easy tap-in for par. Make sure to subscribe to Morton Golf Sales on YouTube for more Haggin Oaks videos!
