Never To Young To Start Golf Lessons

Under beautiful sunny skies Scott Smith, Player Assistant came to Haggin Oaks with his 5-year-old grandson, Hudson. Scott knew from Hudson’s early age on that he was going to introduce him to the game of golf.

What a fun time for Scott to be spending the time with Hudson playing golf where they both enjoy the same thing.

Scott set up a 30-minute playing lesson for Hudson with Richie Gibbs, PGA Associate Professional at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex. The first thing Richie did was set down a golf towel so Hudson could see and feel where his feet needed to be. He let Hudson hit some golf balls so he could feel that he was striking the ball, and it was going in the air.

One thing Richie was telling Hudson was he needed “Sole Power”. When Hudson finished his swing, and the ball was in the air Richie wanted to see the sole of Hudson’s right foot.

In a noticeably short period of time Hudson had “Sole Power” and was now ready to play “golf”.

Richie Gibbs has been a golfer at Haggin Oaks since he was 3 years old. He grew up at Haggin Oaks practicing and playing the game. Richie is now an employee of Morton Golf and moving toward going through the PGA Associate Program toward PGA Membership.
