NorCal Golf Legends To Convene at Haggin Oaks at NCPGA Legends Event

The NCPGA, Sacramento Golf Council, and the Haggin Oaks Team are excited to host the NCPGA Legends Championship at the classic Alister Mackenzie Golf Course at Haggin Oaks on Tuesday & Wednesday, April 29-30, 2025.

The inaugural NCPGA Legends event was held in 2022 for professionals only with great success. Chris Bitticks explains how he was able to put together the PGA, Northern California Section, Inaugural Legends Championship here at Haggin Oaks, “I went to Mike Woods (PGA, Haggin Oaks Director Of Golf). and I said, look, I want to do this golf tournament, and I want the participants to be 70 years old and up. and I think this is the perfect place.”

That original group of PGA pros and champions had 1,500 combined years of experience as PGA professionals under their collective belts. They shared stories of golf legends who mentored them and gentle riffs about playing against each other in past pro golf tournaments, some dating back to the 1950s. More than a dozen shot scores that were lower than their age. Former PGA Tour player Ken Townes hit the ceremonial first shot down the first hole at the age of 94.

The field was expanded to include elite amateur golfers in 2023. The tournament is now open to amateurs and golf professionals aged 70 and above and will be played at roughly 5,700 yards.


The competition will be stroke-play over 36 holes at scratch (18 holes each day). Tee times will begin at 1:00pm on Tuesday and 10:00am on Wednesday. The first day will be Professionals paired with Professionals, and Amateurs with Amateurs. The second round, however, will be paired by score.

A highlight of the event is the Reunion lunch held prior to the beginning of the first round on Tuesday, April 29th. The entry fee includes the Reunion lunch, golf fees, cart, warm-up range balls, prize fund and light snacks after each round.

The amateur player with the lowest gross total score will be declared the Amateur Champion. If a tie occurs for the Top Amateur or the Top Overall, a sudden-death victory playoff will commence immediately following play from the 1st tee. The NCPGA will distribute checks to the top Professionals and Haggin Oaks will distribute gift cards to the top Amateurs.
