In an interesting turn of events for the continuing Tiger Woods saga, it has been reported that Tiger Woods’ agent at IMG, Mark Steinberg, did not renew his contract on Tuesday and is no longer employed at IMG.
Tiger Woods has been a client of IMG since 1996 and Mark Steinberg has represented him since 1998. Steinberg was also the head honcho for the golf division of IMG, a global sports and media business, before this bombshell dropped.
What does this mean for Tiger Woods and Annika Sorenstam who is also represented by Steinberg? Officials for IMG have said that Woods and Sorenstam are free to leave IMG and follow Steinberg if they choose. Will they leave and who else is having flashbacks to Jerry Maguire and Tom Cruise’s plight to hold onto his star athlete, Frank Cushman? Perhaps I digress…
