Tiger Woods will be coming to California soon. He has committed to play in the 2011 Frys.com Open at CordeValle on October 5th – 9th. The CordeValle Golf Club is in San Martin, just south of San Jose and not too far from Stanford, Woods’ Alma Mater.
On his website, Woods’ remarked, “I always enjoy competing in my home state, and this tournament fits my schedule perfectly.”
This will be a good opportunity for Woods to perfect his new swing and get in a few more competitive rounds before the Presidents Cup. Fred Couples recently announced that Woods would be one of his Captain’s picks in that event.
The Frys.com Open is part of the PGA Tour’s Fall Series and the four-day tournament features a $900,000 payout to the winner. For more information on the tournament, go to www.frysopengolf.com.
