Enquiring Minds Want to Know . . .
Duane Shintaku has been a volunteer at Haggin Oaks for the past year and a half as a Volunteer Assistant. Today he can be seen on the #1 Hole of the Alister MacKenzie Golf Course at the Starter Shack.
Duane is in charge of getting our golfers off the first tee on time to enjoy their round ahead. You can hear Duane encouraging them to have fun and enjoy their time while they play this fantastic game.
Duane has been retired for the past 14 years from the State of California after his 40-year career.
He is also a fellow golfer, but most of his free time is spent volunteering. He volunteers at Haggin Oaks Golf Course and the Sacramento International Airport as an Airport Ambassador and with the Sacramento Police Department with Special Events, DUI checkpoints, and community activities.
Duane’s biggest joy is his family & friends and giving back to our Greater Sacramento area.
When Duane is not volunteering he can be seen metal detecting or geocaching. Geocaching is a treasure hunting sport that he does alone or when visiting his grandchildren in Arizona as a family affair. It keeps everyone active and enjoying the outside.
Say “HI” to Duane when you see him at Haggin Oaks. He always has a smile and is willing to help.
Thanks, Duane for all you do and for being a part of the Morton Golf Family!
